Research, Education and Advocacy for Children with Hirschsprung's (REACH) continuing education and awareness has led to less fatalities, improved treatment for complex cases, and as result, more children live with minimal long-term concerns.

With solid roots established in the US, REACH’s next step was to expand to Canada (February 2019). Board member's Liz Crawford and Mark Hofer, parents to HD son Malachi, headed the expansion along with their team of paediatric surgeons and health care professionals.

Malachi was born in 2008 with Hirschsprung disease, where he had various complications in his early life, including over 26 hospitals stays, a pull-through surgery and other numerous treatments. He is now ten years old and is managing continuing issues well.

In an effort to improve patient care, REACH Canada is focused on bridging the gap between patient needs and current treatment protocols. REACH Canada's other objectives are to fund research and provide education for families and patients living with and affected by Hirschsprung's.
