You're not alone.

1 in 5,000 newborns are affected by Hirschsprung's Disease.

what is hirschsprung's disease?

When the colon has no nerve cells, the area is called the ganglionic segment

It affects the bottom of the colon first, but can move up the colon and into the small intestine, leaving portions of the colon paralyzed and unable to expel waste. There's a risk of serious intestinal inflammation, often referred to as enterocolitis.

Infants and children with Hirschsprung’s Disease have difficulty passing stool and typically have a distended abdomen. They may experience constipation, vomiting and loss of appetite.
